Abu Dhabi Introduces Smart Ticketless Parking System with Automatic Darb Wallet Payments
Motorists in Abu Dhabi can now enjoy a faster and more convenient parking experience as the emirate launches its new Free Flow Paid Parking System, a smart solution that eliminates parking tickets, payment machines, and manual transactions.
The innovative Abu Dhabi parking system, introduced by Q Mobility under the supervision of the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), officially became operational on June 3. The technology-driven service allows drivers to enter and exit selected multi-storey parking facilities without stopping to collect tickets or make payments.
How the New Free Flow Paid Parking System Works
The ticketless parking system in Abu Dhabi uses advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) technology to detect vehicles as they enter and leave parking facilities.
Parking sessions start automatically upon entry, while parking fees are deducted directly from the user's Darb wallet when exiting. Drivers no longer need to use SMS services, QR codes, parking meters, or payment kiosks, creating a seamless and fully automated parking experience.
Parking Fees and Darb Wallet Requirements
To avoid fines or payment violations, Q Mobility advises motorists to maintain sufficient funds in their Darb wallets before using the service.
The parking tariff structure includes:
- Dh2 per hour
- Maximum charge of Dh15 per 24-hour period
- Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, throughout the year
This automated parking payment system is designed to simplify parking while reducing delays and improving user convenience.
Locations Covered by the Smart Parking Service
The new smart parking Abu Dhabi initiative is currently available at several public multi-storey parking facilities, including:
- Public Parking Building No. 1 (Sector East 01-3) with 394 parking spaces
- Public Parking Building No. 5 (Sector 02-3) with 265 parking spaces
- Commercial parking sectors in Mohamed Bin Zayed City, including ME9, ME10, and ME12, offering a total of 1,446 parking spaces
The facilities also include dedicated parking bays for People of Determination, supporting Abu Dhabi's commitment to accessibility and inclusive transportation.
Benefits of Abu Dhabi's AI-Powered Parking Technology
The introduction of this AI-powered parking solution is expected to deliver several benefits, including:
- Reduced traffic congestion around parking facilities
- Faster vehicle movement at entry and exit points
- Improved parking space availability during peak hours
- Enhanced user convenience through cashless transactions
- Better compliance with parking regulations
By eliminating physical tickets and manual payments, the system helps create a more efficient urban mobility network while supporting Abu Dhabi's smart city ambitions.
Supporting Abu Dhabi's Smart Mobility Vision
The launch of the Free Flow Paid Parking System reflects Q Mobility's commitment to digital transformation and smart transportation innovation. The project aligns with Abu Dhabi's broader strategy to develop sustainable, technology-driven mobility solutions that improve quality of life and strengthen the emirate's position as a regional leader in intelligent transportation systems.
As Abu Dhabi continues investing in smart mobility infrastructure, drivers can expect more convenient, efficient, and digitally integrated parking services across the city.
